Florence is the most populated city in Tuscany, and rightly so, as it is the capital of that region. If you are even slightly intrigued by history, you will be greatly impressed by Florence. This Renaissance birthplace attracts millions of tourists each year. This is one of the reasons cheap hotels in Florence, Italy are plentiful.

The Statue of David is one of the most visited spots in Florence. It’s a wonderful piece of history that was created in the early 1500s by Michelangelo. The statue is meant to face Rome, with a threatening glare.

A piece of amazing history that must be seen is the Basilica di San Miniato al Monte. This gem was built between the 11th and 13th centuries. It’s located on a hill that is right outside of Florence. The beauty if the city can be seen from this location and it’s a wonderful example of Tuscan Romanesque architecture.

Another beautiful historical religious site that must be seen is the Duomo- Cathedral of Santa Maria Del Fiore. This cathedral was built towards the end of the 13the century. The dome on this piece of architecture is what draws in most of the visitors. It’s a trademark to Florence.

Although it’s impossible to decipher which religious historical sites would be the most important to visit, we have to throw the Basilica Di Santa Croce onto that hypothetical list. This Church is the richest medieval church in Florence. There is a chapel by Brunelleschi, and an early Renaissance tom. There are also frescoes by Giotto. This is a must see.

When vacationing to Florence be sure to bring comfortable shoes, and a map. Walking around this beautiful city is the best way to explore and experience what it has to offer. The history, art, and natural beauty will keep you moving from one attraction to the next. You can find incredible hotel deals in Florence at Motel.com to make your stay extra special.
