If you are anything like me then you know that feeling; that burning desire to “just go into” but not buy, (lying to myself), at stores like Michaels’, Hobby Lobby, Jo-Ann, and boutique craft stores.  I don’t know about you, but I find it impossible to resist their scrapbooking sections.  The Jolee’s Boutique $5.99 vacation themed embellishments, and the die cut baby bottles, mobiles, and cribs! All the “sayings” packets and incredible displays of card stock, stamps, ribbons; my hearts racing just thinking about it .  And how about the wedding section, huh?  Why am I unable to control myself from buying tons of  bride, groom, honeymoon, “with this ring…” stuff?  I have to pretend not to notice the beautiful die cut wedding cakes I see as I walk down the isle.  You know the ones;  made and packaged so nicely by the one and only, Martha Stewart, and for $6.99 a pop!  For ONE dinky wedding cake made out of paper!

My addiction was getting out of control.  Every time I left a store it wasn’t until $60.00, $70.00, $80.00 (sometimes more) later. I then leave with a bag of goodies of which I have no immediate use for.  Something had to give, and it wasn’t gonna be scrapbook supply shopping.

So, while researching online activities to do near or around Knoxville, I learned about Sevierville, Gattlinburg, and the Pigeon Forge  areas just roughly 35 miles outside of Knoxville. The cities are famous for their large flea markets and thrift stores, little strip centers that look like ginger bread houses, and Dollywood, respectively.

One my way out of Sevierville, after leaving the huge Tanger Outlet Center, I saw a billboard that lead to a life changing experience:  ”SCRAPBOOK CLEARANCE CENTER, TAKE THE NEXT RIGHT, LISA.”  OK, my name wasn’t involved, but I felt it screaming my name.

Just think about it for a minute, rows and rows of gorgeous decorative papers for $.25, embellishments that sell in other retail stores for quadruple the price.  Stamps, stencils, all sorts of letters, embellishments, and they even had Jolee’s Boutique embellishments for $1.00 to $2.00!!!!  Imagine all the money I could have saved if I only knew about this place sooner.

I finally made it to check out and watched my total escalate rapidly.  When she finished scanning my items, the register displayed $65.00.  I was just about to politely ask if I could eliminate a few (like 10) things when she hit one last button and announced my new total.  What? Did I really just get a bang for 32.50 bucks? The answer, my friends, is yes; and I did it again a few times a week for the following 3 months!

Believe it or not, there are many bargains to take advantage of while visiting Seveirville, Gattlinberg, and Pigeon Forge.

Let help you find the best place to stay while on vacation.  If you would like to spend time in all three cities, choose from one of 39 Gattlinberg, TN hotels listed.  Gattlinberg is in between Seveirville and Pigeon Forge.  I will provide the addresses for the Scrapbook Clearance Center, which is right next to the Tanger Outlet Mall, so that can direct you to the best place for you and your family to stay.
