In 2012, this city that never sleeps welcomed a record 52 million tourists. That’s one-third of all overseas tourists that come to the country.

Now if you are going to New York City for the very first time, try to make it a long holiday as there are innumerable places that you should go to. Despite the large number of attractions New York City boasts about, the following lines will highlight the locations that you shouldn’t miss.

Places to See in New York City

Empire State Building: It’s impossible to imagine New York City’s skyline without the Empire State Building. It only took 11 months to construct and this 1,454-foot-tall emblem became New York City’s second-tallest structure. It offers a 360-degree view of the city.

Central Park: The country’s first landscaped public park is boarded by giant skyscrapers and is best way seen in a bicycle ride. Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux conceptualized the 843-acre park as a harmonious balance between the Sheep Meadow’s open lawn, the linear, tree-lined Mall and densely wooded hilly terrain.

The Statue of Liberty: The Statue of Liberty is perhaps the most famous of all other American icons that can be found in the city. This monument, which was conceived the French in the early 1865, is now recognized as a symbol of opportunity and freedom for many. The history associated with the statue is quite rich as a French sculptor named Fredric Auguste spent more than 10 years to design and develop the 151 feet tall figure.

The Brooklyn Bridge: The Brooklyn Bridge, which was the world’s first steel suspension bridge, is 159 feet in length and spans between two support towers. Even though the bridge was fraught with disaster, it has become a great example of urban design. The Brooklyn Bridge connects the East River from Manhattan to Brooklyn and is considered to be the most beautiful of all American bridges. You can find New York cheap hotels both in Manhattan as well as in Brooklyn.

New York is so rich with history and culture that it would be difficult to completely experience all the city has to offer in day or even a week. Other top attractions where tourists consistently flock are Times Square, Rockefeller Center, Grand Central Station, the NYC Museums, Coney Island and the National September 11 Memorial & Museum at the World Trade Center. The lists goes on and on.
