Come to Thailand and experience a world of temples, exotic animals, beaches and a culture that dates back thousands of years. Located in Southeast Asia, the climate is mild year round, though there is a rainy season. The country is one of the few remaining monarchies in the world. Most Thais are bilingual, speaking their native language as well as English. Thailand is steeped in heritage and traditions, yet the people are very friendly and tolerant of Western culture. It has been dubbed the "land of smiles".

Bangkok is the capital and the largest city in Thailand. Known as the City of Angels, Bangkok is a huge metropolitan center of commerce and trade. You can find modern shopping malls and over 400 Buddhist temples, many centuries old side by side. Tour the Grand Palace and Wat Po Temple with the gigantic reclining Buddha, both close to low-cost, quality hotels. Take a cruise on the Chao Phraya River and see the floating markets. Then head to Silom Road in the modern downtown areas via the subway or above the street electric rail to find ideal shopping.

Patong Beach on Phuket is the nightlife capital of Thailand where the parties never stop. The favorite saying is "Mai pen rai", which is the Thai equivalent of "Se la vi", or "Don’t worry, be happy." Most of the action is centered around Bangla Road. Neon lights, hot streets (in entertainment and temperature) and chaos add to the atmosphere, so pace yourself and spend some time recouping on the pristine palm shaded beaches.

Pattaya is the modern resort region of Thailand located in the eastern portion of the country. Nestled on the Gulf of Thailand, people visit for the beaches and the low-cost hotels, though there are some pricey resorts as well. A sports lovers' paradise, you can bungee jump, skydive, windsurf, water ski and more. Pattaya also has well designed golf courses. But most amazing is the excellent and varied restaurants from all over the world, Eastern and Western. Once a less reputable city, it has changed to be more family oriented. You must make time to tour the elephant village. On the main beach, vendors cater to your every whim. If you prefer a less populated beach, travel south to discover Jomtien.
