Des Moines Overview

Des Moines, the capital city of Iowa has a population of about 500,000 residents. The city proves to be a calm and relaxing place to visit and regularly has events scheduled for visitors and residents alike. Greater Des Moines is a diverse, multi-faceted metropolitan area with much to offer from Jazz and The Blues to the traditional Sioux Indian celebrations. Much of these events are sponsored and organized by the city itself. There is a free 3-day event on the riverfront in Downtown Des Moines which features wonderful artworks from local artists. This event is usually held between June and July and is a great time to visit Des Moines. While you’re there you might as well check out the “SkyWalk” which links more that five skyscrapers together in the downtown area.
