Louisville Overview

Louisville is home to the Kentucky Derby and the finest horse riding in the world. When the first Saturday in May rolls around, it is time for mint juleps and horse racing. Louisville is also home to the best Bourbon in the states and there is a festival to commemorate this fact. Visit downtown in what is known as the West Main district; you will come upon “Museum Row.” Here you will find the relatively new Muhammad Ali Center, which exhibits wonderful history and events from the “greatest of boxer of all time.” You will also find the Louisville Slugger Museum; the site where many baseball bats were produced. Even though Louisville has tried to become the home for a professional sports team they have not reached that goal as of yet, however there are some semi-professional teams in town.

With a population of 700,500, Louisville is a rapidly developing metro area and has plenty of culture and arts to offer visiting tourists. The climate can be very hot in the summer time with high humidity and significant snowfall in the winter time.
