Louisiana Overview

The state of Louisiana is not the same as it once was, but many people are fighting to rebuild a better Louisiana that they can once again call “home.” The state has provided us with rich memories and a southern culture of its own. The state’s capital is Baton Rouge. Its climate ranges from long and humid summers to short and mild winters. The state’s climate is influenced heavily by the Gulf of Mexico which borders the state to the south. In the Southeastern corner of the state is the city of New Orleans, one of the most talked about cities in the US. The state is most noted for its Creole and Cajun Cuisine to its Blues music.

Creole and Cajun Cuisines are said to have originated in Louisiana and includes such famous dishes as Oysters Rockefeller, Crawfish Bisque, Gumbo of all sorts, Jambalaya, Red beans and rice, Chicken Creole, and bread pudding.

New Orleans Jazz also known as Dixieland also originated in Louisiana with musicians from Freddie Keppard to Louis Armstrong.
