North Carolina Overview

North Carolina has the unique distinction of being named in honor of King Charles of England. Also known as the “Tar Heel “state, NC boasts a population of over 8 million people. The Tar Heel State also has more paved roads than any other state in the Union, so you’ll be able to drive to almost everywhere within the state. North Carolina has 1,500 lakes and over 200 waterfalls. The temperature is mild year round and the state enjoys the average winter time temperature of about 42 degrees. In summer, the weather is about 77 degrees. The state enjoys sunshine for approximately 210 days a year. North Carolina is bursting at the seams with history from the home of the infamous Black Beard, to the birth of modern aviation at Kitty Hawk by the Wright Brothers.
