Bentley University is a private, co-educational institution located in Waltham, Massachusetts. With an emphasis on business and its related fields, Bentley is consistently ranked as having one of the best undergraduate business programs in the nation. Bentley’s history can be traced back to 1917 and the founding of the Bentley School of Accounting and Finance on Boylston Street in Boston. The schools founder, Harry C. Bentley, served as president from its founding until 1953. To accommodate a growing enrollment, the school was moved to Waltham in 1968. The name was changed to Bentley College in 1971, with its graduate school opening in 1974. A Liberal Arts major was launched in 2005, allowing students to earn credentials in both business and the liberal arts. Bentley became a university in 2008.

Today, Bentley enrolls approximately 4200 undergraduate and 1400 graduate students. The university offers the following undergraduate degrees: Bachelor of Science in eleven business fields including accountancy, actuarial science, finance, management, marketing, and mathematical sciences; and Bachelor of Arts in eight fields of study including history, philosophy, global studies, media and culture, and sustainability sciences. Additionally, Bentley offers MBA and MS degrees, as well as doctoral degrees in Accountancy and Business. Bentley University is accredited by the AACSB International and The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.

Bentley’s campus is set on 163 acres in Waltham, approximately ten miles from downtown Boston. The campus is divided into three sections: the Upper Campus, which contains most of the academic buildings and classrooms; the North Campus, containing residence halls; and the Lower Campus, which houses athletic facilities and some dormitories. Around 80% of Bentley’s undergraduate students choose to live on-campus. The university supports over one hundred clubs and organizations, as well as five sororities and eight fraternities.

Bentley’s twenty-three men’s and women’s varsity athletic teams, known as the Falcons, compete on the NCAA Division II level as members of the Northeast Ten Conference.
