Dallas Theological Seminary (DTS) is based in Dallas, Texas. Dallas Theological Seminary also has campuses across the US (Philadelphia, Washington, DC, Atlanta, Knoxville and Tampa), in Texas (Austin, Houston, San Antonio) and in Guatemala. Students can also take online courses. The school was founded in 1924 as Evangelical Theological College. The founders were William Henry Griffith Thomas and Dr. Lewis Sperry Chafer. Dr. Chafer taught the initial class of thirteen students and helped start a Masters of Theology program. A few years later, in 1927, DTS started a Doctor of Theology program. As of 2011, there are approximately 14,000 DTS alumni serving and performing ministerial duties in 97 countries.

The main publication of Dallas Theological Seminary is a quarterly publication called Bibliotheca Sacra. The quarterly started in 1934. The second president, after Dr. Chafer was Dr. John F. Walvoord who began his presidency in 1953. Dr. Walvoord added a Master of Arts two-year program and a Christian Education program. The third President, from 1986 to 1994, was Dr. Donald K. Campbell who added Biblical Counseling and a Biblical exegesis and linguistics programs. Dr. Chuck Swindoll became President in 1994 and Dr. Mark Bailey now serves as President.

DTS received its first accreditation in 1944. It also was accredited in 1969 and in 1994 by various US and Canadian organizations. Dr. Chafer's unique approach (his systematic theology which was published in 1948) is a cornerstone of DTS teaching. Dallas Theological Seminary teaches all 66 of the books of the Bible. It is a non-denominational Protestant school. Additional Masters Programs offered are a Master of Theology, a Master of Divinity and MA degrees in: Christian Leadership, Cross-Cultural Ministry and Media Arts. Doctoral degrees are offered in Philosophy, Ministry, and Education/Ministry. There's also a Certificate program in Chinese. Alumni include Duane Litfin, a former president at Wheat College and Bruce Wilkinson, author of The Prayer of Jabez.
