Hotels near Charleston Beaches in Charleston, SC

Charleston has fabulous beaches along its inner coastal islands. Seabrook Island is mostly private access only, but you can find great deals on Charleston SC hotels and resorts there, and it is only a half hour from downtown. Kiawah Island, which is known for its majestic oaks and magnolia trees, also has private access only beaches, but on the west end is Beachwalker County Park. Be sure to wander through Freshfields Village with quaint cafes and shops.

Folly Beach was a popular beach which also had a county park. However, due to erosion from recent hurricanes and storms, it is closed. From Mount Pleasant, people rent scooters for the day and leave their cars on the main land. It is only about 15 minutes from the Charleston downtown area. The park itself has public showers and facilities as well as picnic benches and grills. You can take a kayak or canoe trip to James Island and visit the historic Morris Island Lighthouse. The Isle of Palms has a rich history stemming all the way back to the Revolutionary war. Tour Fort Moultrie which was a strategic part of our costal defense up through WWII.
