Hotels near East Dallas in Dallas, TX

Once a warehouse district, East Dallas became a hotbed for the Blues and Jazz in the 1920's. Today, Deep Ellum (named after the street Elm in Texan drawl) remains one of the trendiest spots in the city for live entertainment clubs from discos to honky-tonks and Jazz bars. In recent years, crime has increased, putting a damper on the area, but the local government and law enforcement are working to correct that issue. There are still upscale restaurants and the Dallas local's favorite hang-outs here, as well as second-hand and antique shops to browse and local art galleries to enjoy. Lower Greenville is a two mile strip along the LBJ Freeway where many locals dance the night away. Here also is the famed Cotton Bowl and the location for the State Fair held in October.

To the north and east is Uptown and McKinney Avenue with a running trolley car and an eclectic mix of one of a kind shops and eateries on tree lined streets. This is the art gallery mecca and chic section of town with great bakeries, upscale furniture stores, handmade crafts and ethnic foods.
