New Mexico Pet Friendly Cheap Hotels

One of the most interesting and culturally diverse states in the Western U.S. is New Mexico. Here is where the traditions of the Spanish meet the wild west and native pueblos offer intricate handmade crafts and jewelry, practice their customs and run the casinos. This land of coyotes and wild horses is also a pet friendly state with 22 dog parks and more in the works. You can also find New Mexico pet friendly deals in the hotels in and around the major cities and attractions. So pick up the pets and head to the great southwest.

One place you will want to visit is the city of Albuquerque. Come for the state fair in September and stay for the annual Hot Air Balloon Fiesta which is held in early October. People from all over the world come to witness this event, especially the moon glow when the balloons fire up at night. It is a sight you won't soon forget. There are four dog allowed parks in Albuquerque and one beach along Tingley Lake near the botanical gardens, aquarium and zoo. Coronado Dog Park is open every day, but there is no water. North Domingo Baca off I25 receives lots of accolades from locals. Tom Bolack Urban Forest Park does offer water fountains.

Another popular city to visit is the state capital of Santa Fe. This artsy town puts on the Indian Tribe Fest with extraordinary handmade wares and crafts, jewelry and art. This was home to such great American artists as Georgia O'Keefe. There is a great deal of history to explore here as well, like the Palace of the Governors built almost 400 years ago. Santa Fe has pet friendly hotel discounts that will make you smile. There are also two excellent off-leash parks in the city. The Animal Shelter Dog Park has water spigots and segregated areas for smaller dogs. The Frank Ortiz Park also has an unfenced area where dogs can romp and play.

Two other cities with plenty of pet friendly hotel deals are Las Cruces and laidback, resort like Taos. Las Cruces has an off-leash bark park, and in Taos, there are several dog accepted cantinas and cafes like the Dragon Fly and Gutiz. Tim's Stray Dog Cantina has a bubbling stream for them to play in outback to the back drop of scenic mountain vistas.
